Scene 1:

Location: Dunsinane. A room in the castle

Time:

Events: A waiting-gentlewoman speaks to a docter about Lady Macbeth. She explains that she has been acting fearful and nervous and will only sleep in the light. Lady Macbeth enters the room sleepwalking. She tries to rub invisible blood off her hands, but knows she can never rid the guilt from her mind. The doctor and gentlewoman are shocked for witnessing her confessing to her sins of murder. “What’s done cannot be undone”

Scene 3:

Characters: Macbeth, doctor, attendants,

Location: Dunsinane, a room in the castle

TIme: Unknown

Events: Although Macbeth receives information about the Scots force with 10 thousand men marching towards Birman, he comforts himself with the knowledge that no-one woman born can harm him and other Witches’ predictions. Macbeth recognises that he will not look forward to an old age of respect. A doctor reports that Lady Macbeth’s disease is sickness of the mind. Even though Macbeth knows the cause of his wife’s problem he orders the doctor to cure her by any means. The doctor reveles his discomfort being the the king’s doctor while in Dunsinane at this time and given nearly impossible commands that he is unable to perform.

Scene 5:

Characters: Macbeth, Seyton, Soldiers and messenger

Location: Dunsinane. Within the Castle

Time: Unknown

Events: Macbeth is confident that his castle can withstand the 10,000 strong army “burning with revenge”. However, he is rattled by the cries of woman from within his castle. Seyton reports that Lady Macbeth is dead and reflects on life’s pointlessness. A messenger brings news that Birnam wood seems to be moving toward them. Although Macbeth thinks he’s been deceived by the witches, he is determined to fight to the last.

Events: Macbeth and Macduff Meet at last. Macbeth is still confident he won’t be harmed, until Macduff reveals his birth was by Caesarean.

Scene 9:

Events: Rosse reports to Old Siward that he son was killed by Macbeth. Old Siward is filled with sorrow, but also pride that his son faced his death uncowardly. Macduff enters with Macbeth’s severed head in hand. Malcolm finally receives his rightful title as KIng of Scotland.
